From Hotel Premier

Mineral springs that have drawn visitors for generations, and an easy half-day from the hotel.

Kitagata is a set of natural hot springs in Sheema District, a short drive from Bushenyi. Hot water rises out of the ground and runs over rocks into shallow pools, and many local people come to bathe and rest.

It is a working community place, not a spa. Come for the setting and the atmosphere, and be ready for a simple, local experience.

What you will see

Inside Kitagata hot springs

01

The springs

Warm water pools among the rocks beside the river. People come for the heat, and many believe the water eases aches and skin complaints. That is local belief, not a medical claim.

02

The setting

The springs sit in a green valley with hills on every side. It is a pleasant place to stop on the way to or from the south.

When to go

Mornings are quieter, and weekends can be busy. Dry weather makes the road and the rocks much easier.

Before you go

  • Bring a towel, a change of clothes and water shoes if you plan to get in. Footing is rocky.
  • Take care with valuables and keep a respectful distance from other bathers if you take photographs. Ask before photographing people.
  • Combine it with a tea estate visit for an easy half-day.
